I also recall seeing RDR2 grossed over $750million first week making it the highest grossing game in its first week or something along those lines.
Goes to show yet again that people want a good story / single player game.

The phrase rockstar used was "the single-biggest opening weekend in the history of entertainment.", which includes movies.

Quote
Rockstar Games’ “Red Dead Redemption 2” skyrocketed to a $725 million worldwide retail consumer sales during its first three days. The studio’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, said in a release that the game had achieved “the single-biggest opening weekend in the history of entertainment.”

The number eclipses even the highest opening weekend in box office history: Disney’s “Avengers: Infinity War” grossed more than $640 million in its first weekend on the big screen, according to data from Box Office Mojo.

No matter how you look at it, thats amazing figures and shows theres still plenty of room for story driven single player games.

Highest opening weekend - because gtaV was released on a Tuesday.

Just made it to Chapter 4 tonight, really enjoying doing all the side missions etc before moving on with the story so taking it a little slower than I normally would with a Rockstar title.

When I hit ch4 I started hunting all the legendary animals that I had uncovered. Been doing mostly that for 4 days and crafted some nice threads - including what looks to be assless chaps.

I think its a bit smaller than the white horse of one of the other main characters.

Yep, when you're standing next to the other horses you can really see how tiny that one is

I notice it everytime I ride past someone as I sit much lower than average.

I also couldnt get level 10 beard, despite using 5 tonics while on level 9 and waiting a long time. Eventually had to cut it for a mission (I now look like Kurt Russel in Tombstone - Wyatt Earp).

Nice.

I'm only just into chapter 3, messed around exploring way too long in chapter 2, really should push on a bit with the story and then do some more later.

I finally saw a horse to buy which is better than the preorder horse. Dropped almost $800 on this stylish mare only to find out, as I rode out of the stable, that it is tiny. Its very fast, but its speed adds to the ridiculousness as burly arthur gallops through the countryside on his tiny horse.

Im hoping that the donkey will be available for RDO. In Red Dead 1 multiplayer I had a fat Mexican bandit riding a tiny donkey.

The end of ch3 was great too. I finished crafting all the satchels.....it took some real exploration to find this animal

Nice! I've only hunted a few legendary animals, will need to do some more. I haven't done much hunting to do any of the satchels either, mainly been hunting for the food for camp.

I'm stringing out chapter 3. Don't want to hurry the game.
Robbed my first train solo. Wearing a mask and different clothes at all times, but still wound up with a bounty somehow.
Shot a perfect ram in the Grizzlies to use for crafting, but it decomposed and fell off my horse not far from camp.  >:(
Legendary bear and beaver have been dispatched. I am torn between using perfect pelts at the camp or the trapper.

When you can remember important pivotal parts of a game when hearing specific songs - simply masterful. Have to give R* credit for an impactful narrative

Warning: do not read youtube comments

This is still labelled as the online beta, but I think any progress you make will carry over to whenever they decide it is the full online release.

ALL THE ONLINE MODES IN RED DEAD ONLINE

Shootout & Team Shootout
Classic gunfight modes with unlimited lives. Compete to rack up the most kills before the timer runs out. Sudden death will trigger in the event of a tie: whoever gets the first kill wins.

Make it Count - This is their battle royale mode
A true test of resourcefulness in two game modes: use nothing but a bow and a handful of arrows or throwing knives to be the last one standing. With a gradually shrinking player area, there’s nowhere to run.

Most Wanted
A tactical race to the top. Every kill pushes you up the scoreboard, but watch out: the closer to the top you are, the more points everyone else gets for killing you.

Hostile Territory
Work in teams to control the land. Capture a territory to start racking up points: the team with most points wins – or you can win outright by capturing every territory.

Name your Weapon
Demonstrate your personal specialty in this free-for-all or team based match: the trickier the weapon you use to land the killing blow, the more points you get.

Free Roam Missions
Head over to the Stranger icons throughout the map alone or with your Posse to embark on Free Roam Missions. You’ll see some familiar faces along the way, and these missions can vary based on how noble or nefarious you are – for example, an honorable gunslinger may be asked to help escort a convoy, defending it from attacking gangs or even other players’ Posses, whereas a dishonorable outlaw may be asked to help spring a felon from the law.

A Land of Opportunities
Honor also plays into this deeper cooperative strand for two to four players that we will continually build upon. In A Land of Opportunities, you’ll be faced with a multi-part series of missions, with some parts changing as your honor changes on a larger journey to seek truth and justice, or revenge.
