https://www.vg247.com/2016/11/08/xbox-one-scorpio-windows-10-pc-uwp-native-support/

Windows Central is reporting that the constant PlayStation 4 Pro leaks, previously referred to as Neo, resulted in Microsoft’s decision to show Project Scorpio at E3 2016 back in June. Previously, the console was known only to a few select developers.

Citing a “credible source”, the report goes on to talk about some of Microsoft’s plans for Scorpio. Scorpio will supposedly be able to run 4K UWP games available today on PC natively. 4K enabled versions of Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3 are said to be among the top candidates.

Developers will only need to make “trivial” changes to allow any UWP game to work on Scorpio. “Natively” here more than likely refers to how easy it presumably is to get Windows 10 UWP games to run on multiple platforms, and not native in the 4K resolution sense.

On the development end, the report says Microsoft is planning to have all Scorpio development kits be a “one-stop shop” for all development on the platform. The kit will allow developers to test the game on different configurations, including an Xbox One-specific mode that mimics the current console’s performance.

Games will be able to detect the hardware used to run them, and download the necessary assets. Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, Cuphead, and Everspace were cited as examples of how existing Windows 10 UWP games already support Scorpio, in a sense, just by virtue of being UWP apps.

Those Sorpio specs aren't way better than the PS4 pro considering the build time difference. Sony could release a PS4Pro2 with a few tweaks to match or beat it. Fail again M$!

It seems a fair bit better (they hit the 6TFlop mark, and is customised for better performance), but I would expect Sony to release ps5 12 or 24 months lateer.

If Xbox has better multiplatform performance for just 1 year then I agree that it is a bit of a fail.

That, and the lack of decent exclusives may stop me from getting one.

Do they even have any exclusives anymore? How do they hope to sell Scorpio units if they have all their Xbox First Party titles available on PC too.

IIRC, Halo 5 is Xbox One's only exclusive. Another fail.

I've never been a fan of Xbox, but I would consider the scorpio since I love great gfx.
That being said, I'm not sold yet if it will be that much better then PS4 pro. The whole 'it can do 4k' is a rubbish tag line (for both systems). Yeh, it can do 4k surely, but will it do 4k on new games with all the settings maxed out? Or are we sacrificing fidelity and effects for an e-peen pixel count?

Anyway, time will tell. If cross platform games are way better then on pro I will consider buying it if the price tag isn't stupid. Certainly, the exclusives (or lack of..) isn't selling it for me

Xbox first party titles are only available on pc via (Windows store?).....which some people (like me) will never use....so to some people they are still considered exclusives.

Initially those games didn't run well on pc either, I assume that has been improved.

Meh

I'm a sucker for gfx so I'll consider this when it comes out, but there certainly aren't any exclusives I care about so the improvement would need to be significant to justify the cost + loss of PSN friends + another yearly subscription.

I don't see the point of this system if you have a good gaming PC. Infact, it makes me wonder if I'm going to seriously consider another gaming platform I should probably spend the extra and invest in a pc

I really don't get the MS strategy at the moment: One; One S; and One X... starting to feel like the PC world.  Also going to make it hard for developers.

My head hurts.... hahaha

I always thought "Xbone One" was the stupidest name to start with, so they're just doubling down on the dumb stakes.

I do think they could have used another letter besides X. They have a good system set up though, One S for budget gamers, One X for powerhouse gamers and Windows 10 for enthusiast gamers.

They look at people like me who own the OG One like we're a bad nightmare. (Which we are. A bad reminder of the Don Mattrick days)

Phil Spencer is improving things but they are still recovering from xbox one - with the term "xbone" being a huge oversight (they should have seen it coming). Just talking about the name and not how bad the console launch was - these negative terms don't usually make their way into major game media coverage, but "xbone" became the industry standard term to refer to that console.

This is the main reason for the strange new name (imo)...X Box One X (XBOX) - making it impossible to use the xbone term, and maybe also paving the way for generationless consoles with a new naming convention next time.
