Taking bets on how long before 90% of playerbase stops playing.

I won't say "dead in the water" as for honor and ghost recon are the two highest selling games so far this year  :o

Yep can't say I see this catching on.. I actually liked AC: Black Flag and the ship combat was fun.. but not fun enough to essentially make a full game out of it.

Sea of Thieves looks more interesting than this one

I loved the ship combat in black flag. But it seemed disjointed from the assassin gameplay. Not sure what else this game will have but it's interesting. Just checked Sea of thieves too and that looks really cool! I could really get into a good pirate game.

I could see myself getting into this. I really enjoyed the naval combat in AC-Black Flag. I also loved tv series Black Flag and Pirates of the Caribbean so would really get into a good pirate game. Having done some sailing in my youth, i would really enjoy if they nailed the wind aspect of sailing.
Playing it as an rpg style game, working through the story (which is centered around upgrading your ship, working you way up the food chain by fighting other players and pirates and stopping them from taking you loot.) Could be a fun game to play as a casual gamer.

Youtuber describes the game. Sounds interesting. I really like how the wind is important and that it is more about movement that attacking.

The hunting grounds might be like the division's dark zone

With the way Ubisoft is killing it lately with support of their flaghship titles (even For Honor), I have a feeling this game will find its own audience that will continue playing similar to their other titles.

I'll most likely get it for some ship combat fun.

The release of three new AAA games (The Crew® 2, The Division® 2 and an unannounced franchise title) representing 19 million units (vs the four AAA releases and 23 million units previously announced). In line with previous practices and in view of the acceleration of our digital transformation, growth in back-catalog sales and excellent momentum of recent releases, Ubisoft has decided to give itself more time to develop Skull & BonesTM to offer players an even more engaging experience. Skull & Bones is now scheduled for release in 2019-20.
