Ubisoft are making the point that this is an action RPG. Maybe rpg-lite but hopefully this leads to improved storytelling. The combat still looks a bit clunky in the E3 build.

I think it looks like a re-skinned Origins, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as origins was the best AC in a while. The setting looks good and some of the new mechanics will keep it fresh enough. I still think they might've been better off sticking to a release every 2 years, but we're back and 1 a year so burn out on the series is likely.

Dont tempt me....

https://store.ubi.com/anz/assassins-creed-odyssey.html

The question is.. which one.. I really like the look of the Pantheon Edition statue, but thats a bit pricey.. I'll probably go the Spartan Edition with 20% from the Ubi store.

I will probably go the Medusa, by the time it gets to DLC time I tend to have lost interest.

Bought a new AMD card to replace my dead Nvidia and got a free game bundle with it.
- AC Odyssey
- Starlink
- Strange Brigade

So I may well give this one a try - though I never got into any of the other AC titles I tried on Playstation.

Another single player game with artificial grind designed to temp you into microtransactions to remove the boredom (double xp). 7hr grind before you are high enough level to progress the next part of the story.......no thanks.

Seems a bit of a shame if that is the case. I know AC Origins had micro-transactions but I never found I needed them to proceed. Odyssey seemed to be getting generally positive reviews too but Im glad I held off on this one, too much else to play at the moment anyway.

I recall needing to grind xp in the previous AC games, but not to that extent.

Hard to keep up with the release of AC games, its too soon.

Agreed. It was nice when they had a year off and came back strong with Origins, but then only a year later Odyssey comes along, Ubi back to milking it dry.

Actually sounds like a decent game other than the level gating and resulting grind of bad sidequests. Some say Origins is a better game but Odyssey is more fun. I will play it for sure one day, but even Origins hasnt dropped low enough in price yet.

I could not get into AC: Origins, the world felt empty. I actually liked Unity more than Origins. I think I'm just not a fan of these recent settings, I preferred the city ones.

I played a bit of Assasins creed origins,  it's was good but didn't have much time to play it but wasnt really hooked to want to jump back in to play. Didn't really follow Odyssey pre release then saw it was out on sale $69, great reviews and ships like black flag. Should tie me over until ubisoft releases Skull & Bones (really looking forward to that)
Played about 5 hours and just got my ship. Really enjoying it and looking forward to playing a bit here and there

Sounds like I got in at the right time, patch 1.06 release recently and had many fixes and additions.

Played several hours and I am really enjoying it.
Also sounds like more content will be coming.

Hades gear skin! They are also adding visual skins so you can apply the look of certain gear while wearing / getting stats from others!
The visuals are amazing, I'm 13 hrs in at lvl14 and my character looks awesome like a gladiator! The detail is fantastic.

I'm actually really enjoying the game. It's a great mix of rpg and action. I love stealth games and the AC series was always a favourite but got stale after black flag.
Glad they plan on having monthly updates

games fun, story is weak. Worst part is total lack of real ramifications of decisions. It's like the developers couldn't handle the concept of long, separate story arcs...

Worst part is total lack of real ramifications of decisions.
I'm only 14 hours in at lvl 15 and have already seen a couple of my choices play out with certain consequences.
I also have seen others also mention some choices come back to affect you later. It's not a deep morality system but has some affect of later interactions.
I love the mercs/ almost like the nemesis system from shadow of war

I'm about level 27 I think. The consequences are very singular though, they don't play out through the story. I have a feeling there is only going to be one ending to the story.

I have read there is multiple endings. Not only to quest lines but the game itself.

@Ant @M-Rossi what is your verdict regarding xp booster? Do you need to do many cookie cutter time filling (wasting) quests to get your level up?
