I'm surprised people are making such a big deal, almost like this is a new concept or something lol
I guess coz it's Google

I'll give it a crack since most existing services arent based in Australia. I'm assuming Google will use their might (over time) to provide a solution in Australia.
If you can stream Netflix and play online games, there's a good chance you can stream a game. Although you'd never want to play a super fast twitch game there are a shit tonne of other games that will (should) work ok

Ad does nothing for me but i do love the concept.  Could very well be the direction for gaming going ahead.

I think because Google has the infrastructure, and it is new competition with big $$ behind it.

There are some analysis numbers coming out in terms of input lag (latency) and download speed required. Digital foundry has some analysis on the latency, but of course that will be location and isp specific. (I wont quote specific numbers as it is early days, but 1080p60fps looks like needing around 25Megabit down).

Leaks on pricing are not confirmed yet (I have heard free, but have to pay for games, and maybe a subscription model also).

I will probably have a look when exclusives are released, or if there is free access to any game (just to try it out).

Edit: Forgot to add - The games will run on Linux through the Vulkan API and Google already partnered with Unreal and Unity

Yeah I'd be worried about the input lag, could get really frustrating with shooters or sports games.

Spaz see's this being good for SP games only. Interweb tech isn't there yet for the Ready Player One world but eventually that is what we will have.

Google is planning to announce the official release date and pricing for their upcoming game-streaming console, the Stadia, via livestream later this week.

The livestream is scheduled for 2:00 am AEST on the 7th of June (9:00 am PST, June 6) on the official Stadia YouTube Channel, below:

Haha I just got done reading this, which I thought was interesting

https://www.gamesradar.com/au/google-stadia-review-in-progress/

I'm keen on trying it. Since I don't have a PC nor will I be investing $3-4k in one (but I love awesome graphics) I'm keen to see how it performs in SP games ... When it comes to Aus and actually has a lineup of games I want to play (eg cyberpunk at 4k , HDR ,Ultra PC settings? Yes please)

Up to 20GB per hour for 4K, so with playing 3 hours a day it's almost 2TB data a month. Most isp in USA has 1TB data caps.. even 720p will be up to 4GB per hour.

The Witcher 3 reportedly doesnt look great - even in terms of draw distance (internet speed has no effect on something like draw distance). I can't find the image comparisons that I saw.

It is interesting to compare stadia performance for Football Manager 2020. Processing power makes a difference in this type of game, and a bit of lag is fine - graphically requires little power (designed to run on laptops and tablets). However, going by the information coming from other FM20 players, a decent modern 4 core processor will be superior to google stadia for processing speed (this type of processing is purely calculations and is generating things like football match results).

Google could possibly improve their hardware in the future though.
