Klipsch 350w Subwoofer
« on: May 07, 2020, 09:32:30 AM »
So amp plate on my 15 year old Richter 10" (100w) sub died and it was going to cost me about the same to get a new amp as it was to get a new subwoofer.

After a lot of research I decided to go with a decent brand and ended up with the Klipsch SW-350.

It's an 8" driver with a Class D Amp, that delivers 350w peak power. It sounds so much better than the old 10".

It has a low pass crossover (40Hz to 150Hz) and variable phase control, which effectively lets you mix the sub's low-frequencies with other speakers.

These are a few years old now, and I got this 2nd hand (well sort of) - guy bought brand new and used twice before boxing it up.

Listings are showing around $400-450 - I snagged it for $230  :).

Good buy and a great sub for my theatre.

Now to look for a decent centre channel speaker.

When I hooked it up and ran it for the first time, the whole house rumbled, and I only had it at 25% volume  ;D ;D

very nice subby @StoneColdHomer

I actually have a SVS PB1000 myself

In fact I actually bought a new pair of floorstanders the same day as you got your sub. I got the Bowers & Wilkins CM9 S2. I moved my old B & W 684 S2 to the side for 7.1.

For my Centres I am running the B&W HTM62s. They provide ample clarity for dialogue in movies and havenít had an issue with them.

Keen to see what you opt for.

I only researched the front floorstanders, auditioned them and went for the B&W. After that I got the matching centres and rears.

Next on my list is an Atmos amp and speakers. The Klipsch RS140SA are well rated but will be some way off for me. 😭

I real like to look of the Klipsch RC-52 II 500W Reference Centre Speaker.

Was just offered one for $400, but was too slow grab it

I'll keep looking
