I'm not even trolling when I say that CoD Warzone just broke my PS4. Hard crash , had to unplug power, and then no more PS4. Not even safe mode.
Have confirmed the hdd for fried because I found an old 500gb one that I can boot into safe mode with.

So my actual question is, recommendations for stores to buy a new HDD from? My go-to (umart) has fuck all, and so do most of the other places I have checked. Getting a bit desperate...need a new one asap

2tb is a must

Geez that's fuckin shite @raz81  but thanks for the heads up. Spaz DL'd it yesterday and it failed saying corrupt so Spaz deleted and left it going last night. Spaz might just delete and re-DL on the external just in case.

Raz go a 1tb SSD and a 2tb external using the USB3 slot in the back (you have a pro Spaz thinks). The SSD is sooooo much faster.

@spazmanaught  I dont want to spend too much money with the PS5 around the corner. And my internal 2TB and external 2TB are traditionally always full already lol

If i was to go SSD, this one https://www.umart.com.au/Crucial-BX500-1TB-3D-NAND-SATA-2-5-inch-SSD_53577G.html seems a lot cheaper then this one https://www.umart.com.au/Samsung-1TB-SSD-860-EVO_41472G.html .

Thoughts?

Spaz doubts you get much benefit from the Samsung over the cheaper in the PS4. Maybe in a PC with better FSB and CPU.

Spaz has a 1TB Toshiba. It's quick enuff.

In the PC Spaz has the NVme PCi4.0 fuckers as they can use the extra bandwidth.

I used an older model of these  https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/seagate-2tb-basic-hard-drive

Needed to break the case a bit to open mine.

May want to check if these new models are still compatible (I dont see why not)

Cheap option but also wont be any faster than original drive.

You could also plug your OG drive into the empty case and try to format it with a pc.

Thanks guys. Took the plunge on an SSD. I'll deal with the space limitations by hording less. And i'll find a way to re-purpose it when PS5 is out i'm sure.

I think my ps4 is on its way out.  It keeps turning itself on at random periods even though I have the rest mode turned off and have had it off for a few years.  I decided to pull the power cord out and just use it as I need but I find myself preferring the PC more as a gaming option now with the way the ps4 currently is.
