since the recent updates to the division, a recent article mentions that the division has picked up quite a bit of players again.

I have started playing it again with my mates on pc since we have the gold edition and have gotten some others to pick it up too.

As for no mans sky and hello games, i hope it gets better, I still do want to pick this game up.

This update looks great. I hate to say it but it's what the game should have been from release day.

I'll be starting from scratch I think, here's hoping Pro support comes with the update after 1.1

Looking good so far. I wonder if theres any possibility of adding multiplayer or even just local split.

Interesting update, as the first of many.
Quote
The first of many free updates
Thats a bit to have added from the last 3 months, obviously a good chunk of that coding was likely done before release but not ready / too buggy. I saw an interesting video a whileback talking about how likely many features were cut from release as they weren't ready.
There is certainly a few things they need to sort of but its actually a good step in the right direction.
Personally I'm right into Ark Survival & Subnautica atm and they have great crafting & base building. Ill definitely get back to NMS but maybe after the next update or once I've got a bit bored of other games.
Edit: I'll definitely start a new game on my other psn account in the Survival mode
There is alot in the patch notes too, ps4 photo mode is a nice addition

Toborstrike has still been playing the Division (he never really stopped) and I've jumped back in to help him from time to time and it has improved greatly, but for me the core of the game is still pretty boring.

This update for NMS looks like a step in the right direction, I can't say it would be enough to bring me back, but I'll be interested to see where they go from here.

same, i'm now open to see where they go....but this update alone wont get me back.
And as Rossi said, i'll likely start again...if/when i do.

I had not played NMS since sept when i got the platinium.
I turned it on last night and loaded up survival mode. Note I have not seen a single bit of info regarding the foundation update or patches, so had no idea about anything.      Also Note: there is supposedly another update coming out soon, potentially to include quests and a land vehicle.

Survival mode loads up much the same as normal but you start near a little outpost. Your ship isnt anywhere to be seen, then i turn and see the chip icon.... 11mins walk. The planet was extreme cold and 1min depleted my hazard shield. If you run or jetpack your life support drains quicker, so its now best to walk.
After 2 odd hours, I had died like 6 times and never seem to get anywhere.
A couple of main changes i noticed with NMS in survival: 1. Resources are more rare and harder to find, 2. Resources give small quantities. (1-5 instead of the old 10 - 30)  3. Outposts are very rare and not scattered so easily.
4. Life support can only be recharged with Thamium9 or Power Cells (crafted from plutonium and carbon) 5. Hazard protection can only be charged by zinc and Shielding Shards (crafted with iron and plantinium). 6. Thamium9, zinc and Plantinium are VERY hard to find and dont respawn!
6. IF you die and reload, you reload with the same life support level, weapon charge and health points as when you saved, not full.
I read some survival tips and it seems the best way is to make very deliberate short moves from cave to cave, and had to take refuge inside a large mineral deposit, regain hazard protection, charge life support and continue the journey.
I played some more and managed to find another outpost on the way to my ship! I was about to die but made it inside, recharged hazard protection and saved. I was now 5mins from my ship! Edit: more of the same struggling but made it rto my ship.
It actually quite challenging and I dont mind it so far. I want to get to my ship, then head to a space station and start checking out the base building and freighters.
Definitely a change from the survival i am used to in Ark Surivival lol.

So their solution to the boring repetitiveness of the game is to make is hard and boring instead of just boring?

For all the Rocket league players

Build your own tracks and set time records, then other players can visit your base and try to beat the times!
(Just make a new save file in Creative mode)

I'm looking forward to checking it out in 4K/HDR. The screenshot comparisons looked great. This game keeps getting better and better and I commend Sean Murray sticking to the project considering the immense backlash by fans and media.

Homer beat me to it. Yep it's out. I didnt play the foundation update; so much has changed! I started a new Survival game like a week ago (a few days before the pathfinder updated dropped). Worked up to an exo suit with 21 slots, multi tool 17 slots and ship at 19 slots. The classes are awesome, but not a fan of repairing each broken slots in a crashed ship for 70k (+15k each additional slot). I had got a few crashed ships before the pathfinder update and my save file was landed next to a crashed ship when the pathfinder update kicked in. Salvaged the ship but spent 700k repairing broken slots leaving me with like 100k units. Played for a couple of days just doing random stuff then late last night I got my first freighter, a 17 slot by keen freighter. Only cost 930k after I saved it from several pirates. I only have 10k units left! Now gonna start building a base and trying to earn creditsome to just buy a better ship.
Exploring feels more deliberate in survival as you need 200 plutonium to take off if you arent aren't at aren't you landing pad.
The photo mode is fantastic and for some the game is worth it just making wallpapers lol

For those who still have the game but didn't enjoy exploring, the core gameplay is still similar but with more direction and things to work towards. I would suggest just messing around in Creative mode to build some base components  (base building is very compartmentalised like Subnautica), building the buggy and making race tracks and playing around with photo mode.
