Personally i think the steering wheel would give increased performance over a ds4 say when turning, as you have more control and precision.
A mouse on console unfortunately does not have true mouse movements, and is only the ds4 analog transcoded from the mouse, so it is not as good as people think in giving any increased aiming performance. Personally i always played fps with a mouse so am just used to it. When i stopped pc gaming, i was only using my console for rpg and sports games until I found a mouse for it. I know lots of fps players who are much better than people using a mouse, its just personal preference imo.

I am faster using a DS4 compared to steering wheel and pedals - but driving games are infinitely more enjoyable with the extra immersion. I believe the software in the driving games do try to smooth out the steering for DS4 users.

That is something alot of people don't understand. In FPS on console there is alot of aim assistance. Thus actually using a mouse doesnt have a huge advantage. Its just ingrained into peoples brain that mouse = more precision. They are not allowed in competetive tournaments so the mouse devices are still seen to give some advantage. However, in driving game competitions it is expected that people use a steering wheel.

Anyone own a decent Joystick or a HOTAS? I am considering on picking up the Saitek X52 (non-pro as I cant find this anywhere) for something decent and entry level.

Or does anyone have any other suggestion?

Oh boy... now THX will be turned into a cheap company that doesn't care about quality.

Returned my Thrustmaster hotas today for a new unit. Mine became a squeaky POS after a couple weeks. New one is brilliant. We'll see how long it lasts

CronusMax have announced their new product, DriveHub http://cronusmax.com.  This gives you the full functionality of your wheel on both XBox One and PS4. This thing works really well. My Fanatec Porsche GT2 wheel feels really good on both consoles.  Oh yeah, if you haven't guessed I was in the beta.
