Still sucks about Mortal Kombat.

But I guess the developers still have to resubmit the games for classification since the law has passed.

And, supposedly, they have to wait two years to resubmit unless an MP asks for a resubmission.

I played the demo and apart from the eye candy it was just a rehash of the original, I didn't think the graphic scenes were enough to get a ban though.

I agree. there's a lot of worse stuff in other games (beheadings in chivalry, knife to the throat in BF3) that seem to go unnoticed.

Just a reminder that PS+ membership is currently on sale for $52 and the sale finishes tomorrow.

And in case you didn't know, memberships will stack. So if you buy today, but your membership doesn't run out until a few months down the track, no issue, that's when the discounted membership will start.

is bioshock 2 any good?

I liked it SCS but I like Lego games...

I really enjoyed Bioshock 1 and got 2 as soon as it came out. Hmm what game can I compare it to? Spaz reckons Dishonoured is the new Bioshock.

Helps to have played the first one but it is a standalone game in that it is a different main character I think. From memory they are longish games.

I rated it 4 Spaz's out of 5

Bioshock is great. It is the spiritual successor to the old System Shock games on PC from ages ago. I cant really think of another game to compare it too though

Sleeping dogs is a good game, i recommend people give it a go.

In the last few months i've forgotten to download most of the games that are free and have missed out. This year i'll just make sure everything is added to my download list...even the vita games and i don't even own one of those :P

Also going through my free space and i had only 30gigs free on a 500gig drive....turns out there is a effing massive chunk of it taken up in the game data folder with all the old games that install many gigs worth crap....i've started manually going through it and clearing out the drive so i can start downloading more content.

Title: Re: Playstation Plus

Yeah, i add them on the website so that I can choose to download later or not.  My drive is down to 70GB or so of 500 so I can understand the need to clean up.  I am looking at putting a 1TB drive in my second PS3.

yup! best thing sony has done! well doesnt matter now but i didnt have access to my ps3 most of the time so I couldnt add things to the download list when they were announced, i nearly missed out last month. but yeah now, i just do it through the website.

pity the vita doesnt see the ps3 content, they really need to change that.

Post by: Barnzini on January 29, 2013, 12:40:10 PM
I didnt know you could do it from the website...that is a win ;)

Is it just me or the new PSN store on PS3 is a bit laggy at times? Takes longer than it should to browse around imo. The layout is ok but i prefered the old system as it was a bit easier for me to find what i wanted straight away.

Title: Re: Playstation Plus
Post by: Pat on January 29, 2013, 12:55:53 PM
I only ever do it via the website now Ben, you then go to your download list in Account Management > Transaction Management on the PS3 and you don't have to touch the laggy pos store at all.

I think they spent too long playing XBox.  It needed a revamp but don't copy the competition.  I find the old store easier to navigate as well, over both the XBox and the new one.

Title: Re: Playstation Plus

They used to work on other PS3s.
Title: Re: Playstation Plus
Post by: Ant on March 14, 2013, 04:38:16 PM
I will look again, but I think now when you get the option to autosave to the cloud, if you are not on the "dominant" PS3 it asks to turn on auto update on that PS3 which turns it off on the other one.
Title: Re: Playstation Plus
Post by: kunfushun on March 14, 2013, 06:33:29 PM
so the point of auto save on cloud is just to backup now?

that sucks.

looks like on ps4 though you can get someone that is watching you play to take over and play your game, not really a save thing but maybe we will see this cloud stuff be a bit more open to sharing across your multiple consoles.

In some apps, yes, but it has never been that way for PS +
Title: Re: Playstation Plus
Post by: raz81 on March 14, 2013, 08:23:33 PM
It never allowed syncing per se,  but you could upload from one ps3 then download to another.  Although,  afaik, many games locked their saves for 24hrs so it was a bit shit.  Never did it myself so I could be wrong
Title: Re: Playstation Plus
Post by: raz81 on March 14, 2013, 08:27:21 PM
Hmm now that I think about it, I doubt 2 ps3's using the same psn could do auto saves to the cloud.  I could see that potentially causing a fair few file conflict issues
Title: Re: Playstation Plus
Post by: kunfushun on March 14, 2013, 08:38:51 PM
ah well thats not good then.

with things like cross platform games and resuming on ps3 and to the vita (i dont think there is a game there yet like this but it was announced when the vita was released), it should be part of it.

pity it isnt.

anyway, if the ps3 is in sync all the time and connected to the internet, i dont think there would be too much problems with it raz since its only tied to 1 psn account (i might not be thinking hard enough right now), auto sync upon turning ps3 on or off would stop this from happening but i guess this isnt a feature of plus or ps3?

i just hope its implemented on the ps4.
Title: Re: Playstation Plus
Post by: raz81 on March 14, 2013, 08:49:41 PM
I think you might be misunderstanding the concept. It is just a backup service,  not a syncing service.   You set a schedule,  ie 3am, and it backups up your saves automatically once a day at that particular  time if you aren't using your ps3.

Out of coincidence,  I was just reading this article because it popped up in my feed. I think that these features are what you are thinking of

Yeah, I wrongly assumed it would sync based on the account rather than the system, my bad!  And I would have thought that auto-updating two devices (or three or four or...) would not be a drama.

Also, if they wanted to implement it, it would be trivial to have multiple PS3's cloud save.  All the devices have a unique name and MAC address that could be used to identify them.

I should note, I am not really bagging PS+ just pointing out things that I noticed, that I probably should have been aware of.

i was a bit disappointed with lbp karting, especially since it was developed by the same guys who did modnation racing (which i find to have much better mechanics). out of the recent kart racers f1 race stars was much more fun (although suffers around replayability)

as for the uc3 download if you find you have issues with the installation (i.e. the icon doesnt appear in the xmb) then download and install the uc3 free-to-play multiplayer from the store as well - the single player campaign will then come up in the menu of the game

Typical PSN+ decides to add yet another game i already own. Just to rub it in i own it on both PC and PS3 bwhaha.

I recommend people give it a go....at least play the first couple of missions to see if you like it.

Your final offering for this month is Saints Row: The Third. Assume leadership of the Third Street Saints and rampage through the fictional city of Steelport in this outrageous open-world action epic where absolutely anything goes.

Pretty good update! And yep,  BF3 just became trade bait :)

I have noticed that as well Will but with a game like BF3 where it is unlikely you will revisit the SP it shouldn't be an issue, still would be a smart move to check first though.

yep, $70 is the normal price, and given the value at the moment, it's still cheap. I think most of us tend to renew whenever there is a $50 special. Best thing is that memberships stack, so even if you're only half way through the year, a renewal will begin at the end of your current one.

My PS+ is paid until September 2014.

Well that is a bit of a fail there. I built up a massive library of games prior to buying a Vita by just adding them to my download que.

Also since i don't have a PS4 yet i wonder if i can add resogun to my que. I will have to check the SEN web store and see if it lets me.

My free 14 days psn+ trial is coming to an end this weekend.

Just wondering have you guys ever seen AU PSN subscription going on sale?

Can't seem to find any discounts, vouchers/coupons for the subscription.

Funny how it used to be free on ps3, and now they are charging for ps4 yet the underlying offering is still the same.

before ps4 they had sales fairly regularly, but I haven't seen anything since. FWIW, the sales usually brings the yearly down to about $50-odd

And Don't Starve is now free in your instant game collection for PS+

I suppose it's unlikely I am gonna find a discounted one in the next few days.
So I suppose I will just pay for the full yearly fee.

Question though, if i do that and the bought some discounted psn card in the next few months (if it becomes available) I don't have to use it immediately right? Can I use it towards my next year's renewal?

Oh and make sure you do not have auto- renew on otherwise it will just charge your CC if you have it set up next year! I ahve auto-renewal off so I can choose when to renew as sometimes they have better deals rather than when my subscription is due.

$10 SEN/PSN credit when you too up $50 with Paypal.
This is for AU/EU account only.

Deal taken from Ozbargain.

My PSN subs expiring soon, so good timing for me :)

Edit: it looks like the $50 top up can be done in bits too, top up option are $10,20,30,40,80.  Do you can do $10 + $40 to get to $50 for example and will still get the $10 voucher.  I will give it a try tonight

From April 30, Stick it to the Man will be arriving for PS4 owners that subscribe to the service, which we gave an 8.6 out of 10 thanks to its brilliant mish-mash of puzzles, comedy, and zombie whale rafts.

PS3 owners, meanwhile, will be getting Puppeteer and Payday 2 on the same date.

Last but not least, European Vita owners will get Muramasa Rebirth and Everybody's Golf

Yeah, PS1 I was an early adopter and loved it.
PS2 and PS3 I held off for a while (up to a year for the PS3) and loved them both
PS4, early adopter and wondering why!!!  I know it will eventually get good titles but there still seems to be a lot of love within the dev community for last gen (or is it current gen and ps4 is still next gen?) /rant

Me too, I am also often wondering why I bought PS4 so early and they are still rolling out PS3 games like no tomorrow...

My PS4 is slowly collecting dust now :(

Yep, PS4 is definitely collecting dust. Bring on May.

Been wanting to pick up Payday 2 so that's a win. Other than that though, it's a fail.

I'm already finding the PS4 UI retarded with the games and content. I haven't deleted anything and the list to scroll across is now ridiculous. Really needs a major re-design now from the beta they launched with. I logged on the the Failboxone yesterday and it easily surpasses the PS4 UI by a long shot now.

Playstation is releasing the Beta of PlayStation Now, with a subscription fee ~$5 / month and being able to rent / stream games at something like $2 a day. Could be interesting.

i agree spaz, i haven't used the ps4 much at all but when i first saw the UI, i didnt not like it at all. needs better organising and accessing games as this scroll is going to be ridiculously long.

m-rossi, sounds good, might consider it (in the future when i get more time to play) depending on the delay, quality and library.

Absolutely Spaz, they should just have your library folder whatever you have played the most.

I'll be having a look at that Marco.

Yeh the ui is fucking stupid in every respect. Even takes like 6 clicks and 3 screens to find and accept a friend request.
Mobile app needs work too. Generally OK to schedule a download, but using a code (eg destiny beta) and then trying to find and schedule the download? Impossible

I remember reading that the dlc was some type of prequel set before the events of the main game so it makes sense they palm that off for free and hope people buy main game.

also that new sale has a few winners. I bought metal gear for $12 and Rogue Legacy is a great game for the vita. I paid $20 for it and its obe of ny favourites for the year.

It might take until after the store has officially updated. Check again tomorrow morning. I know often the store progressively updates, it's not just one big hit.

I'm apprised the new titles appear under psplus already, normally you can find them early manually at the plus price, but I guess they might be moving wicket this week.

MGS:GZ would definitely be worth a play, I was put off by the price vs length when it first came out, but by all accounts its a good game and you can get a lot out of it. Definitely a nice pick up for free.

Love PS+

I mostly get the games for my Vita. Comes in handy for playing on the plane to and from Thailand.

But they surprise me every now and then and put something good on the PS4 as well. I think Ill have to check out that rocket league.

This is better in my opinion. Even if the three options aren't great at least we have some kind of say.

I disagree.  If they put up three pretty average items (like this months), they can say that xxx was picked by popular demand.  Good PR and advertising for them, little improved outcome for us.

By the looks of it, it's only going to be 1 of the possible freebies with us still getting other items. At least we can say we picked the best of a bad bunch lol

Ant is right about this. Sony have been coping it bad for the crap PS+ stuff they have been dribbling up. This is them pushing the heat onto the voters. I will vote when something is worth voting for not because I have an option to.

Most of the freebies over the years I get on plus I usually already own or have owned.

I would prefer to pay just a fraction of the fee for the online gameplay.
Having said that its a really cheap subscription so doesn't really bother me either.

I'm fairly certain the + in PS+ is not a plus but a lower case t, and the correct name for the service is Playstation trash.
It's certainly much worse than XBLive Gold that I had on 360, although I understand that service is going the same way.

To be fair, for the most part XBL Gold Games are typically rubbish on Xbone too, 360 and PS3 are both still getting decent games for their relevant services.

Exactly. The only reason PS3 and 360 got AAA titles for freebies was because it was the end of the cycle. People need to understand that and accept that it's just not going to happen (at least not regularly) in the PS4 and Xbone's life. Free games are free games, even if only 1 in 10 are gems, it's better then nothing.

(and yes I know we pay for the service itself so technically not "free" blah blah blah.. they could be charging us for the service and not giving freebies so just accept the scraps they throw us)

yEP Im a fan of the Mass Effect series, ended doing 100% achievements with II on the xbox 360. Number 3 lost a lot of the rpg elements and exploration and missions seemed to be focused around the citadel.

Hey Enigma.
I have not played it but did see some reviews when it was released. It's definitely playable given that it's "free" and also has friendly fire.

Might give it a go when Fallout4 dies down a bit.

Hardware Rivals (PS4)
Grim Fandango Remastered (PS4)

Full Lineup:

    Dragon Age: Origins, PS3
Grim Fandango Remastered, PS4, PS Vita
    Hardware: Rivals, PS4
Legends of War Patton, PS Vita
    Medal of Honor Warfighter, PS3
    Nihilumbra, PS Vita

Other than dragon age... Its a pretty bad line up imo, MOH was garbage and hardware rivals at least in the beta was pretty boring

Yeah it was rubbish but the killstreak perks had some fun moments. Sarge is right though warfighter just filled a gap for them.

MOH is one of my favourite games. Platinumed that beitch 😲

Dead Star (PS4)
Zombi (PS4)
I Am Alive (PS3)
Savage Moon (PS3)
A Virus Named Tom (PS Vita)
Shutshimi (PS Vita)

LMAO, PS+ has nothing on Xbox Games With Gold next month. Xbox One gets Sunset Overdrive and Telltale's The Wolf Among Us.

We get a low budget port of Zombi? Seriously?

Given I already have the XBL game I'm more interested in the PS+ games. But the games with gold line up is definitely getting stronger whilst PS+ hasn't had anything worthwhile since Rocket League.
Title: Re: Playstation Plus

Utter trash!
You'd think Sony would at least throw a first party title out. Even if i've got/played the damn thing I'd be happy knowing that a big title can still get on the list.
Title: Re: Playstation Plus

Surely they could throw us something that's been around since launch of the PS4 like Killzone Shadowfall or Knack.

Exactly!

Hell, looking at the list of PS+ releases on PS4, they haven't given many retail releases at all (and some of those retail games I'd argue are cheap ones anyway)

Wow. Since dead star was leaked earlier I thought ps+ games were about to get better (dead star is a new release I believe).

Then I see Zombi...

May have to start purchasing ps+ per month, based on if I need it to play a specific game.

World of Tanks was never a ps plus game. Its a free to play game that you can actually play 9/10 of the game without money and you don't actually have to spend any money if so imclined and still play tier 5 - 8 tanks which are the most fun. I love the game and will go back to it when I lose interest in the division.

Table Top Racing: World Tour (http://www.gamespot.com/table-top-racing-world-tour/)
Tropico 5 (http://www.gamespot.com/tropico-5/)

Switch Galaxy Ultra (http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/switch-galaxy-ultra-review/1900-6416011/)

EDIT: Homer beat me to it.

I played one of the Tropico games on PC (3 I think) and it was fun, not sure how they play on a console though. Table Top Racing reminds me of the old Micro Machines games crossed with Mario Kart, could be fun.

Sport games are hit/miss. I have played bball games in the past but have no interest in that sport. Will probably try it out because of boredom, and due to there not being any high quality football games. At least it's not another indie offer.

Gone Home - again a hit/miss type of genre. For most people it will be a miss, including me. I recently had wall repaired from water damage and got to watch the paint dry. Don't need that level of excitement again anytime soon.

Dont know how they can justify the price increase given the drop in quality,  but I guess not many services don't raise prices over a 6 year period.

Price hike kicks in 22 September, will do the same as Sarge and renew mine just before it goes up (mine is due for renewal in Nov anyway)

So, an increase of $10 in US equals about $20 here right? That's how the Australia tax works isn't it?

Unless it also goes up by £ conversion equivalent, then that'll really hurt.

Yeah wouldn't be surprised if we cop a bigger increase..

Thought the US currently pay $59 (for 12 months) which on today's exchange is about $77 AUD..  we currently pay $69.. so make what you will of that..

They currently pay $49.99/year. approx. $65 AUD, so that's a $4 tax  ???

Yeah, if $60 USD is about $78 AUD by normal conversions, then I also won't be surprised if they throw the AUTax on top for an even $89.

If that happens, hopefully we'll see stores offering cards/codes at discounted prices like the US get often.
Otherwise that's a hefty hike for same old lame PS+ offerings.

Dark souls: piece of cake version. How slow is that bosses movement, it's like his gear is too heavy that it allows you 5 seconds to dodge out the way lol. I will probably give it a go anyway, I enjoyed both Diablo and DS

^ Agree, after defeating a few bosses in DS this one does look easy. But it has a few tricky ones ahead, this is only the second boss.  :D My build in that vid was specializing in Daggers.

Though those might not interest me much, it's good to see plus having a bit of a run with retail games rather than the endless small indie titles.

So quite the opposite of what @SmashedPumpkin had with his PS Plus renewing itself without him wanting it.., mine is due for renewal on 25 November.. how do I remember this specific date so well, because Playstation has been kind enough to email me 7 times in the past 3 days to remind me of this fact  I got the point the first time! And because I have auto renew on and my paypal linked, the email states:

Your PS Plus membership is about to renew automatically – you’ve got automatic renewal switched on AND an up-to-date payment method attached to your account. Good work being so organised – we’ll take care of the rest.

So yes.. thank you for letting me know.. again.. and again..

Sounds like they're trying to give you the option to not renew... hahah strange indeed. Or maybe they're looking to get you to stack your renewal?

P.S. Your PS Plus membership is about to renew automatically.

It might be ok if enough people play it.
I jumped on the beta and it was shocking. Had to flip the region to something i knew would have terrible ping just to get a game...once...then after a few rounds i guess the other people got the shits also and there was no one else playing.

Gameplay wise I thought it was rather basic... don't go thinking Tron stuff, you'll be disappointed.
I don't see it being much of a hit... as it didn't really have much to offer to keep me coming back.

I run into some interesting psn purchase issue and wondering if any of you have similar problem.

Ordered Destiny 2 for $139.95 funding via credit card from AU PSN store, the bank statement shows up as $144.15

After several calls with Sony and ANZ it's concluded that anz charged me $4.20 for a "overseas purchase charge".

I have done purchases from AU psn previously via the same method and same credit card but have never encountered this "overseas purchase charge".

ANZ advised that Sony might have changed their charging to via their operations outside of Australia, and hence it has come through as an oversea purchase.

Has anyone encounter this issue as well?

Apparently same thing will happen to Netflix..

" The Australian tax on digital downloads from overseas kicked in (July 1) after being introduced in the 2015 Federal Budget as a way to close the 'digital tax loophole'.

The scheme will see overseas firms collect GST from Australian buyers on any digital items, including streaming TV and music services, smartphone apps, digital books, and video games."

Yeh, I started to get overseas charges a while ago (pre 1 July) so I switched to using PayPal (although it doesn't always work for whatever reason)
Title: Playstation Plus
Post by: Leinad300 on July 27, 2017, 06:51:26 PM
But why is PlayStation AU which is Sony Australia been treated as overseas company? It's an Australia operation isn't it?

Edit: don't they already charge gst for our digital download?

Also my charges is from the bank, not from Sony which is interesting.

Edit2: I got a refund from ANZ for the additional charges btw, but they said they won't do the same refund next time.
Also just received a reply from Sony indicating all PSN AU are part of EU operation and all charges are from London.

Nope you don't. The extra charge is an international transaction fee that most banks\credit cards charge when you shop overseas. Its a bank thing, not a Sony thing. Psn card bypasses all that.

PayPal takes money from my Cc (no international charge) then Sony takes money from PayPal (no international charge).

But sometimes I still have to use the cc directly for some reason. The other day I did 2 psn transactions. 1 worked with PayPal , the other didn't (error). No idea why.

Just got an email from psn, the subscription price is going up.

That's a 15% increase for annual subs.
Is the service we are getting worth $80 a year?

From 09:01 AEST on 31 August 2017 we are changing the prices of PlayStationPlus.

- Annually, the price will change from $69.95 to $79.95 per annum.
- Quarterly, the price will change from $27.95 to $33.95 per quarter.
- Monthly, the price will change from $9.95 to $10.95 per month.

- Quarterly, the price will change from $32.95 to $39.95 per quarter.
- Monthly, the price will change from $11.95 to $12.95 per month.

I'm getting a little annoyed at the rising costs of online services in the last few years for not a lot of return.  PSN has only really had one major update in the last few years that i can recall, otherwise the store is still as slow as a win3.0 site.  I feel like the quality in monthly games have dropped a bit too, can't remember the last 'free' game i downloaded and played.  You can't expect a AAA title to be given away all the time nor should it be but i feel that Sony are offering less for more.

I admit the reason why I'm not that fussed with the price increase is because I pay by the month so an extra $1 is barely going to break the bank whereas I can see where yearly buyers are coming from having to fork out an extra $10 with no way to get them cheaper compared to XBL.

Hopefully they keep this up with some big titles - especially now that they've upped the sub price.

Props to Sony for including PSVR games, but horror titles are too scary for me on console.
Years ago I got Alan Wake free with my 360, and it scared the bejesus out of me after only about 30 minutes.
I can't work out why most PSVR titles are zombie or horror focused.

Huge month for PlayStation Plus in March.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERN1sg1JADI

Bloodborne (PS4)
Ratchet and Clank (PS4)
Legend of Kay Anniversary (PS3)
Mighty No. 9 (PS3 and PS4)
Claire: Extended Cut (PS Vita and PS4)
Bombing Busters (PS Vita and PS4)

Starting next year on 8th March 2019, the PS Plus monthly games line-up will focus on PS4 titles and no longer include PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles.

This won’t affect any games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to 8th March 2019. Those games will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member.

Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same – the only change is that no new PS3 and PS Vita games will be added to the PS Plus monthly games line-up beyond 8th March 2019.

Many of our fans are playing on the PS4 platform, with the increasingly vast number of PS4s in homes around the world. We’ll continue to prioritise the benefits you receive through your PS Plus membership, such as online multiplayer, PS4 monthly games, online game save storage and exclusive PS Store discounts across content and network services.

Online was always free on PS3 wasn't it?!, was only with PS4 they went the M$ route and forced it.

Only benefits I saw on PS3 was the free games each month, save auto backups and some extra discounts on the store

I have a real love hate relationship with my VR. When I use it I really love it, it is going to be the future of gaming in some form, but it is such a hassle to setup and use at the moment. The second gen headset is a slight improvement especially with the HDR passthrough.

I am going to try a couple of switch boxes from JayCar so I can leave everything cabled on mine all the time and see if that helps.

Exactly. Or the preorder numbers for the next dlc are so low they are  packing it and trying to get people to buy in for it while they think it's all cool in the early game before they realise how quickly it wears out

Thought try might have gone out with a bigger bang. Oh well.

Doesn't look likely that they'll increase the PS4 offering either... Or include PSVR on a regular basis either. Nawww.

Hitman was good value - It got me the legacy missions for Hitman 2.
Rogue Aces is good fun.

The rumour at the moment is that 2019's Call of Duty is Modern Warfare 4 and will include MW2 and MW3 Remastered campaigns so them releasing MW1 on PS+ seems like them trying to complete the collection.

Has any reason been given for this?

Was thinking it was a terrible lineup for psplus - detroit makes it much better.

No, not from what I can tell. Only saying they've made a swap.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed when I heard this.
I'll agree it's probably a better game, but when do I play the plus titles anyway :troll:

Honestly, I was looking forward to getting PES. Thought it would have been a nice change up from playing FIFA.

From what I read around, for the first few minutes of the rollout PES was free on plus anyway, but they soon corrected that. Dammit being 10mins late for the release timeslot.

I bought pes on release, best soccer game on the ps4 imo. Substantially better than the last few years of PES.

Does Omega Collection include VR or is that a separate title? Trying to find out on PSN Webstore but the search function isn't working for me.

Packed with all the content from WipEout HD, WipEout HD Fury and WipEout 2048

If you look under the game features tab is says "Playstation VR Compatible", so I assume it's included

Yep, all included - as all games that have VR should be. None of this separate game rubbish :troll:

Is that worth playing if I am prejudiced against AI and don't believe AI will ever be sentient? (Or will the story, as a result, just annoy me)
